Merci

  2. How does SCID compare to Chess Wizard(Bookup) and Chess base?

  3. Excellent tutorial. Very imformative and takes the puzzlement out of using scid for the first time.

  7. Answered to my own question – no. I've got the same date.

  8. Anyone know what you have to do to get the 'database switcher' on Scid vs PC. Because it not an option in windows.

  9. This is an excellent explanation of how to use scid. Also this is an excellent way to learn openings and to improve your chess in general. I have gone over this tutorial twice. I was never able to figure out how to use scid before but now i'm cool! Here are somoe notes I made:

    1. Aquire SCID and install

    2. Google to find a good database

    3.Import file–FILE–NEW, type in name

    4.TOOLS-IMPORT PGN FILE-

    5. OPEN database

    6. Open clip base–FILE–SWITCH TO  DATABASE–CLIPBASE

    7. SEARCH

    8. To copy search results–drag and drop filtered database to clipbase–close filtered database

    9. FILE–NEW–type in name

    10. Switch filtered database with clipbase  by drag and drop

    11. EDIT–EMPTY CLIPBASE

    12. TOOLS–EXPORT ALL FILTER GAMES–PGN

    13. To learn openings–GAME–load random game–play solitaire

  10. Excellent tutorial and really well-explained. Thank you, Fred, for sharing with other chess enthusiasts.

  11. How to get stockfish software or houdinin in SCID ? Or does it come with it ?

  12. personally i think scid vs pc is superior to cow software. i use it more than fritz and chessbase 12 too. lucas chess does alot of cool stuff and compliments scid vs pc very well, and icofy database in si4 format is over five million games db. downloading bin opening books for reference and your set. also 5 piece nalimov endgame tablebases are also helpful.

  13. also add stockfish 7 with tools bar, analysis engines , add engine. stockfish is a 3400 elo uci engine that works great in scid vs pc

  14. chessx is also worth a look. uses pgn databases with a nice looking gui. comes loaded with stockfish

  15. downloading photos spf, wikipedia spf, eco, spellcheck, historic, fics spf from scid sourceforge site and put them in scid vs pc bin folder will add photos and info. making it more user friendly works for scid too

  16. this videos author fred has a guess the move program that im really loving. going through old morphy and stienitz games. he also has a good tactics gui, both programs come with an old stockfish engine. very nice

  17. How about a database with only Stockfish 7 and Komodo 9.2 games? Only those played with powerful hardware, and an average of 20 minutes per move.

  18. Hey! Great videos thanks/ Could you help me how to export a diagram from SCID? Thanks

  19. I've been using SCID for years and have both Stockfish and Komodo engines installed. I also use it to play online at FICS. I never realized how good a database program it is. Thank you.

  20. help, how do u add file and ranks on the sides? mine doesnt show them

  23. When PGN file was imported, does that mean SCID already transformed the new database in its own [Si4] format? Otherwise we use pgnscid .
