I won exactly like 11:40. Opponent already had his bishop protecting his horse. So I moved my castle forward. And he blocked with his dark bishop. So I ate that with my bishop. So he hate my bishop with his queen. And I ate his queen with my castle. Next move was mate.
In the exchange variation it would be helpful for you to tel your students that you basically want to end up in the position as if you had played a black london system it is exactly the same just a different way of getting there

after Nc6 white should play a3, if e6 to take the c5 pawn you just play Nf3 cuz black can't pin the knight, then they take your c pawn and b4, however if Nxe4-b4, Nf6-Bb2 and as you can see its still equal so you cant really dominate with the caro kann

One interesting tidbit. Your response to 1. e4 c6 2. b4 should be 2. …e5. Bots will often play this line. It then goes 3. a3 d5 4. exd5 cxd5 5. d4 and so on, ending with black gaining a huge central advantage.
Theory is nice and all. Only that it almost never applies. At least from my experience.
Great video, this really helped me get a sense of how the Caro-Kann can be utilised in a variety of scenarios. Need to watch more of this sort of Gotham content, and less ‘MAGNUUUUUS!!!!!’ Clickbait ones 😀
1 year later and I'm still wondering why Gotham didn't address white's bishop pinning the night after night moves to c6

We opened a can of worms here. I'm not a player like in the time limit competition. I just like the game. But this kind of video gives me insight on new tactics.

2:05 bishop d3 hardens your position i learnt it by my new opening variation and it had this kind of position this is the biggest issue with my opening
if you wondered its a clemenz opening VARIATION which allows you to choose your game in 5 types at least
the main setup is:
1.h3
if e5? you start with caro cann copycat
if d5? you start with the two subversions of double bishop variation or london or after the bishop f4 and e3 you strike with c4 just like in this video and then you can play knight c3 or solidify the game and play slowly with c5 which is perfect for classical games of course you cant premove this opening but if you know the theory of this opening just like i did i promise this opening will be about '!' all tried and experienced youre welcome brother! also a tip for you:
whenever your opponent plays knight c6 even if it blocks your bishop you play knight ge2 or knight e2 if its possible
just finished watching this video, it's late, 10pm and i don't usually like playing 10 or 15 minute games too late at night since i am obviously more tired, but i hop into a game anyway, get a classical exchange caro , fianchetto the bishop as you showed, used f6 to push e5 , got a huge center, and won on move 22 by resignation with checkmate in 1 coming – i am 1200 btw – GG

Very disappointed with this opening as a beginner. Because I was so excited to play this about a year ago but then when i spent many hours exploring various outcomes in the first 5-10 moves with this opening on an engine , I could never find a favourable pawn structure. Even as a beginner i test openings on engines by giving the opposition the best moves possible from both master games and stockfish's recommendation itself. I make sure i stress out every best move order and sidelines out there After a week i was left disheartened.
Either your opponent ends up with more middle pawns or you lose your e-pawn protecting the king yet complimenting the king side pawns and which's also helpful to attack as most players castle king side. It really takes the fun out of the game for me when the opponent has the control if you get the middle pawn majority or lose the e-pawn or not and this is why I could never really get into the opening. Also giving up pawns from the start and then fighting to take your opponents pieces back to equalise is a pain in the ass. Instead isn't it better to play solid and not mess around like this? Remember I am a noob and most likely wrong, so i welcome some replies to see the light regarding this opening.
