In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov will teach you how to crush the Scandinavian Defense as White in just 8 moves! On top of that, he gives a complete overview of this opening gambit which happens after the following moves: 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.b4.

White sacrifices the b-pawn for a quick development and sharp attack. It comes with some really nice traps that most chess players fall into. You will also learn how to outsmart and crush your opponents who are aware of the trap and don’t fall for it.

  1. Not a good idea to play Igor for money. This man knows his chess big time. Great video!

  2. IDK… There's something wonky about chess videos on YouTube. I think it has to do with the pedantic nature of being a high-level player -lots of details to keep track of. Im an out-of-practice player. My thinking is advanced enough. I dont remember the common traps, openings, etc. Sure, practice would solve that, but this is YouTube and Im using it for advancing that process in less time. You're the best explainer so far, so Im gonna park this feedback here. All the chess videos Ive seen on YouTube are chess players making YouTube videos, not YouTubers making chess videos. (Gotham is a chess master being cool for the kids using chess). All the chess videos Ive watched are too long, filled with too much fluff. Case in point, Im not watching a "Crush" this or that play for emotional support. Ive clicked on the video cause I want to learn the moves and ADVANCED concepts which underpin the plays. Ive watched this video 6 times now. Sure, some may grasp all the content and move straight into play. I grasp the concepts but keep getting confused when I play and it has to do with my brain storing all that fluff-commentary, so now my game play is worse and much like in chess with pieces, Im trying to figure out how to un-fuck my brain -un-learn what I half-learned so I can go back to playing with the advanced concepts in my head prior to watching this video 6 times. If you want people to purchase your in-depth instruction videos, we need to be confident the lessons will be well explained and not use up half a day to digest.

  3. Okay… what happens after K-b5, black moves P-c7? Hulk no smash?

  4. please say tempo 100 times i love you so much when you say tempo my heart melts plz attack the queen with tempo and tempo everything

  5. Thats great giving some ideas but pls more accurate all possible moves you can move not only thoughts only move

Ending last part. Black Bishop can protect king before white queen takes black queen.

  6. At the very end after Qg4 wouldn't Bf5 have stopped that?

  7. Lol my opponent played Nh3 …. What can I do next ? !!!!

  8. It has a gambit, right? Starting with e4, d5, Kf3, then d5 pawn takes the e4 pawn. Then Kg5, targeting the pawn. Then Kf6, d3, if the pawn takes d3, attack with Bd3. If the h6 pawn wants to attack the knight, why not sacrifice Kxf7, then King takes, after then, Bg6 and after King takes, Qxd8.

  9. Black always plays Na6 to defend, and there's no trap😒

  10. At the beginning, why wouldn’t the queen simply capture the knight?

  11. okay but what if they play c6 immediately after i move kb5? i can fork for a rook but still i want that queen

  12. me: plays this opening traps
my opponent: (who also watched this video) i can see the future
    🥲🥲🥲

  13. Most of the people I play against start giving my white checks with the Queen rather then moving it to other side what should I do ?

  14. And then black plays 2.Nf6…. Which is the reason why I always play Blackmar Diemer against Scandi. It’s also the thing I don’t want to see the most as black.

  15. How to counter if they use queen to check my king in the start

  16. Dear Sir, someone is using your videos for a YouTube channel. Pay your attention, please.

  17. what do you do if black moves the knight at a6 protecting the c pawn instead of the queen?

  18. Great video! Does anyone have a link to practice this?

  19. You talked about ka6 only for 5 seconds of the video and it was the move that @xntentacion played and destroyed Bruce trap lol

  20. Fantastic content. Can’t wait to use it. I love to PUNISH !!!

  21. the problem is that at the beginner level almost nobody goes to a5 everyone just brings their queen back 😬

  22. I'm a bit confused…. Black's king doesn't have to take the bishop to get out of check- couldn't the king just move over and ruin the attack?

  23. The problem is that even Na6 even tho looks ugly is still an ok option for black.

  24. The living cat in the background is better.

  25. but what if they put knight on a6? Cant go with bishop on c4 cant take pawn on c7. Knight doesent look good on the edge of the bord but kills all the plan.

  26. I play the Scandinavian a lot, and it would be really helpful if you made a video on how to avoid this trap.
Thanks a lot for this video. Super informative!!

  27. First time I tried he played Nf6 after b4. (2 min game). So game over. He was not a bad player, just surprised

  28. Preparing for my school chess tournament this is very helpful thank you sir.

  29. My opponents queen went to e6 in his third move after taking my pawn

  30. i feel like a nerd but i smiled for how beautiful this was💀

  31. But what do you play if the knight does go to a6?

  32. You're the best chess teacher on YouTube.. thank you for everything! It's been so fun learning lines like this for the first time in my life – this video and how to crush scholars mate attacks have actually enabled me to play blitz. I watch 3 or 4 times then practice each variation.. seeing such amazing results

  33. Really enjoyed that and have learned a lot from your channel. I've been telling my friends about this.

  34. knight to c3 then pawn to a3 seems to shut all of these down. Is there a play if this happens?

  35. Below a 1000 blcks next move after pawn takes is always to give a check. 99% of the time

  36. I just played the knight to the side of the board instead of protecting the pawn with the queen and my opponent resigned

  37. what do you do if they end up putting the knight on the edge of the board

  38. I play the Scandi often and I’ve run into the traps and I can tell you that the Scandi is solid once your knight's are out and covering each other. These traps for white hardly ever work against me in Rapid

  39. I play the Scandinavian defense with stockfish and could hold my weight vs you Igor trying all these traps
