The Latvian Gambit is one of the most aggressive gambits in chess and many top players find it quite dubious. For the rest of us though, it has great results for black and can really catch a white player off guard.
Chess Software used in the video can be found at and
7:52 its white move not black so he doesn't have to move he can castle and be completely completely fine up material
I don't think it is necessary to be behind – 2 only to surprise your opponent and know the Theorie better.
If you play b6 your opponent mostly will not know it and you are not be behind this much.
After Kf3, black can take the white queen with Qh5
shoutout to all the homies back in my home country Latvia loll.
IS this opening for black or for white? Cause I keep waiting for the punchline, but it just looks horrible for black
IF THE WHITE KING MOVES TO G1 TO GET OUT OF CHECK THEN BLK QUEEN MOVES TO D4 CHECKING KING ON DIAGONALLY IT WOULD BE A CHECK MATE WOULDN'T IT?
IF THE WHITE KING MOVES TO G1 TO GET OUT OF CHECK THEN BLK QUEEN MOVES TO D4 CHECKING KING ON DIAGONALLY IT WOULD BE A CHECK MATE WOULDN'T IT?
When I play this Gambit it seems like everything is going wrong. But I usually win some how, I can't figure it out. I wish I could master it.
4:46 That's a checkmate Kevin . He can't take that Knight.
Is queen d4 not a mate?
When black pushes pawn to b5, why wouldnt white just take it with a bishop and deny blacks access to the diagonal? This gambit seems playable but i have to study this elsewhere this video is a bit sloppy and assumes white plays with a 10% accuracy
Overrated mainly based on HOPE CHESS (please do waht i want to! And my frineds that NOT AGRESSIVE! Its infact super weak mindsett of hope chess, latvian gambit is a joke to plus 1900 player if he knows how to play chess not to mention 2000! Most of you so called agreesive players are juat insignificant arrogant pride (Golden calf worshipper exodus king james bible! Stay humble and play chess like a man specially as a Gentleman! Not a
Prick! With ocult tricks
time 4:45? What ""retake the knight""? It's checkmate!
what if they decline it
4:43 why not pawn at G3?
I just watched this, played a game….forgot everything!
5:04 why don’t you play d5 to kick the knight away and then maybe play Qh5+ ultimately grabbing the white queen
Don't play this gambit
Don't try this at home
Don't get pumped up and go into a game to try this coz ypu will be fucked.
Love this gambit, thanks for the vid. Though I would've liked to see a little more on the Qf6 or Nc6 variations instead of the riskier bishop line.
4:49 checkmate for black
Decade old video and still great content. I love this game
Very good ty.
Btw the 'a' in Latvia is pronounced like Caffè Latte 😉
A bit late to the party… What's stopping white play pawn b3 at 4:30?
It'll not workable
Mate at 4:50
bing bang and boom
4:48 Queen to d4 is checkmate no?
Haven’t see such a sketch start for black that’s a true gamble
8:02
Can't white just do pawn to F3?
‘A lot of the times white does an epic fail and just gets destroyed by black’. I’ve played a lot of this game and it’s pretty consistent but awesome to learn some new stuff
I just tried to play the Latvian gambit and it was quite possibly the worst game of chess I've played 😂
4:50
Easy win
4:48 that's actually check mate
At 6:40 , why not move your queen to h5? It squewers the king to his queen& you win the queen
just here to see wtf ludwig was trying to do lol
What if instead of first knight he plays queen h5
I felt very free to give up material to the point I only had the king left, now what?
This is actually horrible as you don't go into the variations of whites taking of the pawn.
4:40 what do you do here when they just play pawn to g3
Do we have simillar opening against d4, i played latvian with reasonable success
1:26 Knight takes pawn (Queen's variation)
3:42 Knight takes pawn (bishop variation)
4:22 Both pawns taken
7:30 Opp. Bishop threatens knight
8:26 Opp. Knight backup
9:13 Pawn takes pawn
4:48 is mate
5:05 pawn g3 best move for white
How can you retake the knight if its already a checkmate.
How can you retake the knight if its already a checkmate.
Best move is pawn to d4 from white called Mason counter gambit
6:05 Why Can't we check with queen on a4, we right away win the queen
This gambit is trash
