but Hikaru, in the tier list for beginners with Levy you put the italian very high
Damn Im first
Let's be honest, we low-rated players play the Italian because of potential Fried Liver Attack π
Third?
I just watched this after playing an Italian… π’
I like the English Opening
No italian? Alright, i'll just play the catalan π
do like me, play the italian but then the evans gambit, and you will have tons of fun
So Bongcloud is better, noted
I switched to e5 as black recently and even at the 1700-1800 level, probably 80%+ of what I face is the Italian
Play like me and make your opponent think that they are playing a 2 year old
1200 will play the most heavy sophisticated theory to lose to simple pin or skewer later
I've gained 200 points since I dropped the Italian a few months a ago so I fully agree with this
I play centre game as white and Scandinavian miehses kotrc variation as black 900 rapid
Iβve been playing the bishops opening as a 1200 rated, I win 60% of my games, but I donβt understand what I am doing
I would say scotch is good to start with
Opponent makes a move and it takes hikaru 20 seconds to make a move.
Opponent: i got him thinking now
Hikaru: explaining why beginners should not play the opening he is
Hikaru op π guys watch my channel
The thumbnail looks like Hikaru trying to make a Sigma Face.
So whatβs the best opening for beginners as white?
Just play the Vienna since it's banned in FIDE because it's too OP
Title of the video:Best openings for beginners
HIKARU: ITALIAN IS THE WORST…
agree! i couldnt gain elo with the Italian as a beginner/intermediate player. found way more success with the Vienna.
So, instead of giving us the best opening for beginners. You give us the worst. I like that attitude.
Italian game very boring opening in chess
Thank you, Hikaru. I have stopped playing the Italian, and have since taken up the Spanish. Hopefully my games will be much more straightforward!
I actually agree. If you don't know when to open (the file) it can get really complicated or really simple with equal trades which leads straight to a boring endgame
as intermediate player (2000 lichess elo) that was a beginner 2 years ago: play Skandinavian vs 1.e4 and Englund Gambit vs 1.d4 as a beginner, these are very forcing, getting you tactical positions so you see ur daily puzzle solving pay off. as white play the London system, very easy repertoire.
